Incoming Master data in BW4HANA

non SAP master data coming from sources is loaded into BW. Same as in transaction data, the data is stored 1:1 in advanced DSO.

The field names and format are retained. The semantics and field properties are set in Open ODS views of type master. InfoObjects can be used in defining mapping in Open ODS view of type “Master”.

Open ODS views of type “master” can be associated by open ODS views of type “Facts” or by Composite Providers as dimensions.

Defining master data in BW is achieved by modeling InfoObjects, this needs some effort.

The advanced dso where master data is mapped to an infoObject should have this InfoObject as key.

If the master data has fields with texts that describe another field, these can be assigned to value field in Open ODS view. It is not required to create text tables. This means multiple languages will not be supported.
