BW4HANA
See more in our couse BW4HANA – an Introduction
SAP BW∕4HANA is a sap bw system with quick and easy to modify data modeling, SAP HANA-optimized jobs and great user interfaces make SAP BW system very flexible and user friendly.
Instead of starting from scratch, you can use standard models provided by SAP in your modeling.
Below are the key areas in SAP BW4HANA
- Data Modeling
- Data Acquisition
- Data Analysis
- Agile Access to information in datawarehouse
Data Modeling
Data is collected centrally in datawarehouse, it is cleaned and transformed using the transformations.
LSA++ helps in storing data in different layers e.g data acquisition layer, corporate memory, datamart layer etc.
Data is stored in Infoproviders. Infoproviders are made up of InfoObjects. Infoobjects are the smallest metadata objects which map information in structured form.
Same infobjects should be used to model information in different layers of the datawarehouse, this ensures metadata consistency.
There is also option to model objects directly from the source fields, this is used in cases where you need rapid and agile data integration.
datastored containing different sets of data can be combined using logical views type infoprovider for common evaluation.
The data from SAP HANA views can be merged using Composite Providers.
Open ODS views can be used to for virtual analysis of source data which can be further physically stored in datawarehouse.
Data Acquisition
Various types of sources can be connected. The connection has to be configured in source system. For physically moving the data to BW4HANA you need a datasource in BW4HANA.
ETL can be performed using DTP and transformations. The data is then physically stored in infoproviders.
Data Analysis
Once data is stored and consolidated, it can be analysed multidimensional datasets (Infoproviders). OLAP (Online Analytical Processing) is used to analyze data using analytic queries.
Agile Access to information in datawarehouse
Creating ad hoc data models is supported in BW4HANA. New models can be created in BW workspace based on data already present in datawarehouse and data from the source or local data. BW workspace is managed by IT department and used locally.
