HANA Studio
About the SAP HANA Studio
It enables technical users to manage the SAP HANA database, to create and manage user authorizations, and to create new or modify existing models of data in the SAP HANA database. It is a client tool, which can be used to access local or remote SAP HANA databases.
The SAP HANA studio runs on the Eclipse platform 3.6.
How to install SAP HANA Studio in windows?
The default installation folder for MS Windows is %USERPROFILE%saphdbstudio and for Linux is $HOME/sap/hdbstudio. The default installation folder for Mac OS /Applications/sap/hdbstudio.
Downloading SAP HANA Studio from SAP Marketplace
We need to download Installation Media and Components for SAP HANA
- Open the SAP Support Portal Home https://support.sap.com/
- Click on Download Software icon.
- As we have to fresh install HANA Studio hence, go to INSTALLATIONS & UPGRADES, if not already chosen. We can select “Support Packages & Patches” if we want to upgrade our existing HANA Studio.
- Open > By Alphabetical Index (A-Z).
- Choose H folder.
- Choose SAP HANA PLATFORM EDITION.
- Go to DOWNLOADS, if not already opened.
- Choose the desired version. Here we are going to download SAP HANA PLATFORM EDITION 2.0.
- Open DOWNLOADS, if not already opened.
- Choose INSTALLATION.
Please note: If you have already have installed HANA Studio and want to upgrade its patch level, then we need to click on “Support Packages and Patches”
We had got this option in point no 3 also.
- Download the items you need. We mostly download the latest patch available at marketplace.
We can directly download the files or we can use SAP download manager to download files.
To download files from SAP download manager select the file (by clicking check box) and then click the cart button present on top right side of the marketplace page.
Installation Path
In below table we have mentioned path where the installation files will be stored for various OS platforms.
Installation and Update Commands
The installation and update commands are specific to the operating system.
Here we are going to install SAP HANA Studio using graphical user interface in windows.
Open the downloaded folder right click “hdbsetup.exe” and run as administrator as shown in below screenshot.
Now we will get SAP HANA Lifecycle Management window screen.
In below screen we need to provide installation path. We have mentioned default installation path in above table.
We can change installation path (if desired)
If we want to start SAP HANA Studio immediately after installation, then click “Start SAP HANA Studio after installation” checkbox.
Now in below screen we need to select desired features which we need to install.
By default, all 3 options are checked. Uncheck if you don’t want to use any one of the feature mentioned below.
Select desired options and press next.
In below screen we will be asked to review what all options we have selected so far and confirm.
Please “install” button to proceed further.
Installation started.
In below screen it will show installation progress.
We will receive “successfully installed” message for SAP HANA studio.
Click Finish.
Once Installation is completed, Click on the SAP HANA Studio icon present at desktop.
It will ask for the workspace path.
By default, path will be C:User<User name>hdbstudio.
We can change workspace path by selecting alternative path by clicking “Browse” button.
Please check “Use this as default and do not ask again checkbox else, launcher will ask workspace path every time you launch the SAP HANA Studio.
If you have previously installed SAP HANA Studio, then it will prompt for updating files at workspace location.
If it’s fresh installation, then we won’t get below screen and we can ignore this step.
SAP HANA Studio will start loading
Once SAP HANA Studio is launched, we can add systems in HANA Studio by clicking “Add System” button.
