SAP HANA Optimized Infocube
If your system is BW on HANA, you can only create SAP HANA Optimized InfoCubes. This type of cube is having a different kind of star schema than the standard infocube and is in-memory.
Observe the two figures below:
Thus all the characteristics in a HANA optimized cube are like line item dimensions since the dimension tables are not created and the SIDs from the master data tables are directly stored in the fact table.
Hence, the grouping of characteristics in a dimension has no meaning.
Also, there is no E fact table for the compressed requests.
With BW running on HANA, the HANA optimized cube resides in-memory.
There is lot of improvement in the data load times as there are no dimension tables.
Converting Standard Cube to SAP HANA Optimized Cube
If you have recently migrated your BW system from RDBMS to SAP HANA Database, you can take advantage of this feature by converting your standard cube to hana optimized one.
Double click on the cube to display it. Click on the ‘Goto’ tab on the top menu and select ‘Conversion to SAP HANA Optimized’
Mass conversion of multiple objects to HANA optimized
If you want to convert multiple cubes/DSOs to hana optimized structure, use tcode RSMIGRHANADB.
Using this facility, you can convert cubes, DSOs, Multiproviders, Semantically partitioned objects to SAP HANA-optimized structure.
Observe the figure below taken from the BW 7.4 version-
As can be seen in the figure above, there are options to convert DSOs without change log and also an option to display the logs which will show the object converted.
Please Note: Before converting your objects, make sure that you clear all the data which is not required from the cube, DSOs, change logs etc. as hana optimized objects will reside in-memory and it is not desirable to keep unwanted data in-memory as these will take up RAM space. HANA Sizing is done before migration and is a big factor in deciding the price of the product.
