What is Material Master Data report in BW/BI?

The companies mainly in the manufacturing business require to see the material master data of their inventory stock after the sales and delivery is done for a period.

These reports mainly show the details of a material produced by the company like

• Material Type
• Price
• Base Unit
• Plant
• Sales Organization
• Controlling area
• Distribution Channel etc.

These reports may often show also the first delivery date of the material based on the data from the warehouse on how much stock is available.

To show the master data and available delivery quantity data for a material, you need to get data from the below sources-

• Material master data
• Delivery item data
• Shipment header data
• SD Delivery events

There can be various sources from where the data is coming. You can consolidate all data using an infoset in the BW system.

Using infoset left outer join can also add an advantage of reporting the material master which are not delivered or shipped for a long time.

However, infosets can degrade the performance of the query if the data is more (rows in millions) due to the expensive join operations.
